Bates numbering is a method of indexing legal documents for easy identification and retrieval. Each page of each document is assigned a unique Bates number that also indicates its relationship to other Bates-numbered documents. Bates numbers appear as headers or footers on the pages of each PDF in the batch.
How do you add Bates numbers to a PDF on a Mac?
Open the Edit PDF menu at the top left of the screen. Select Header and Footer > Add Bates Numbers. Under Format Options, you can fill in the Prefix and Suffix fields to display the text before or after the Bates number. Under Number of Digits, you can specify how many digits make up your Bates number.
