Newline. A newline is a character used to represent the end of a line of text and the beginning of a new line. In programming languages, such as C, Java, and Perl, the newline character is represented as a '\\n' escape sequence.
What is the line break character in Excel?
Adding line breaks Ordinarily, line breaks are inserted by Excel according to the cell size. But we can add them manually with a line break, created by pressing Alt and Enter: You can also create a line break in a CONCATENATE or other text formula using the CHAR function — CHAR(10) is the line break character.
What is CR and OF?
CR and OF are control characters or byte code that can be used to mark a line break in a text file. CR = Carriage Return (\\r, 0×0D in hexadecimal, 13 in decimal) moves the cursor to the beginning of the line without advancing to the next line.
How do I remove a line break in Word?
Go to the Home tab and, in the Paragraph group, select Show/Hide. All section breaks become visible in the document. Place the cursor to the left of break you want to remove, then press Delete. Select Show/Hide to hide the section breaks.
