LEDGES 98B Format. LEDGES 1998B is an ASCII, pipe delimited format containing 24 fields. It is currently the most-widely used billing standard in the legal industry in the US. It is not intended that the LEDGES 1998B format will be modified in the future.
Open Excel and select blank sheet. Click File. Click Open. Select yellow folder or Office button. Select Open. At the bottom of the open window, change Files of Type to All Files. Select the LEDES1998B file. Click Open.
UTBM codes are a set of codes maintained and developed by the Legal Electronic Data Exchange Standard (LEDGES) Oversight Committee. UTBM Codes were designed to standardize the categorization of legal services and expenses so that legal work and the associated costs could be easily identified and analyzed.
