Donations can reduce income tax levels for a given year. Donors must have a written official confirmation to claim a deduction for cash or any monetary gift.
Donation receipts are written records that acknowledge a gift to an organization with a proper legal status. A nonprofit donation receipt include: The donor's name. The organization's name.
The receipt can be a letter, a postcard, an e-mail message, or a form created for the purpose. Any donations worth $250 or more must be recognized with a receipt. The charity receiving this donation must automatically provide the donor with a receipt.

Charitable donations are tax-deductible and the IRS considers church tithing tax-deductible as well. To deduct the amount you tithe to your church or place of worship report the amount you donate to qualified charitable organizations, such as churches, on Schedule A.
Although a church doesn't have to report tithe offerings or donations to the IRS, the church does have to keep track of them. If you donated more than $75, the church will supply you with a detailed statement that shows the dates and amount of your offerings.
Charitable donations are tax-deductible and the IRS considers church tithing tax-deductible as well. To deduct the amount you tithe to your church or place of worship report the amount you donate to qualified charitable organizations, such as churches, on Schedule A.
