I feel that it was inappropriate and a bit shady to let a customer edit the PDF and then hit them with the credit card ask. Maybe let them do a test for 15m or something.

Select the range of cells, the table, or the whole sheet that you want to apply conditional formatting to. On the Home tab, click Conditional Formatting. Point to Highlight Cells Rules, and then click Text that Contains. Type the text that you want to highlight, and then click OK.

If you wish to set up alternating row colors in Excel, first highlight the cells that you wish to apply the formatting to. In this example, we've selected A1:B6. Select the Home tab in the toolbar at the top of the screen. Then in the Styles group, click on the Format as Table drop-down and select one of the options.
Select the cells you want to format. Click and drag the mouse so that all cells in the range you want to style are highlighted. To highlight every other row of the entire document, click the Select All button, which is the gray square button/cell in the top-left corner of the sheet.
