Does someone get a notification if you remove a tag?
No. Facebook notifies everyone who appears in a tag as per above but doesn't notify if a tag is removed. Adding a tag has privacy implications, removing a tag does not, so no notification is necessary.
When you untag yourself Does the person know?
No. Keep in mind though that they are not allowed to tag you again once you've untagged yourself. So if they go back through their photos and see that you aren't tagged, they'll try and tag you (thinking they missed you in error) and will find out that you've purposefully untagged yourself.
When you remove a tag does it notify the person?
No. Facebook notifies everyone who appears in a tag as per above but doesn't notify if a tag is removed. Adding a tag has privacy implications, removing a tag does not, so no notification is necessary.
Can you tell if someone untagged themselves on Instagram?
It doesn't notify you. It removes the tag (obviously) but if you try to retag them anywhere in the picture it will have an error saying “unable to tag person x in this picture.” Doesn't really explain that it's because they untagged themselves though. That's good to know.
What happens when you untag someone on Facebook?
If you untag someone from a post, it will get removed from that person's Timeline.
Does Instagram notify if you untag someone?
When you untag the other person's Instagram handle, they will not receive an additional notification stating that you untagged them.
Does Instagram notify when you remove a follower?
When you remove a follower, they aren't notified that you've removed them. You can also block someone to get them to stop following you.
