Can you put footnotes at the end of a paper?
The only real difference is placement -- footnotes appear at the bottom of the relevant page, while end notes all appear at the end of your document. If you want your reader to read your notes right away, footnotes are more likely to get your reader's attention.
How do I make Footnotes appear at the end of a document?
Footnotes appear at the bottom of the page and end notes come at the end of the document. A number or symbol on the footnote or end note matches up with a reference mark in the document. Click where you want to reference to the footnote or end note. On the References tab, select Insert Footnote or Insert End note.
Do footnotes go at the end of the sentence?
Footnote or end note numbers in the text should follow punctuation, and preferably be placed at the end of a sentence. If you do place a note in the middle of a sentence, for example at the end of a quotation, the number should always come before a dash.
When should Footnotes be used?
Like MLA, APA discourages the use of footnotes unless absolutely necessary. Even then, the guide recommends that footnotes only be used to provide content notes (such as providing brief, supplemental information about the text or directing readers to additional information) and to denote copyright permissions.
Do footnotes go inside or outside quotation marks?
Both footnotes and end notes require that a superscript number be placed wherever documentation is necessary. The number should be as near as possible to whatever it refers to, following the punctuation (such as quotation marks, a comma, or a period) that appears at the end of the direct or indirect quotation.
How do I move a footnote in Word?
Select the footnote or end note reference mark in your document. If you are copying the note, press Ctrl+C. If you are moving the note, press Ctrl+X. Position the insertion point at the location where you want to copy the footnote or end note. Press Ctrl+V.
How do I move a footnote down in Word?
Select Footnote from the Insert menu. Click on Options. Make sure the Footnotes tab is selected. Using the Place At drop-down list, select where you want Word to place your footnotes. Click on OK.
