so just to give you a brief introduction to who I am I'm a senior manager here with the organization I've been with the company for the last 21 years and previously to that I spent a bit of time working for the Ministry of Defense the National Health Service a little bit of time and Industry and then I decided that it was testing and certification was the route for me so you also have my contact details on there if you want to come back and contact me at a later date so just to go through I just wanted to run through what I'm going to cover and we'll review this at the end just to make sure that everything has been covered but today I also have a look at what is CE Marking a little bit about European directives and can spend a fair few slides looking actually responsibilities because they've changed quite recently and it's quite important that everybody understands their place in the supply chain and due diligence my favourite term of all in we're going to cover as well a bit about enforcement and how to identify which directives supply there are 20 plus CE Marking directives and sometimes it's not that obvious and we'll look at a couple of popular ones the emc directive from the low voltage directive following on from that we'll have a look at routes to conformity a little bit about harmonized standards and technical documentation finally placing products on the market and then something you know I don't know if any of you guys that have joined today are involved in fulfillment houses but also just talk a little bit about those guys because they're becoming a lot more prevalent in our activities and for both if the consumer perspective and from our perspective and then we'll have a look at some questions and answers at the end so the million dollar question what is CE Marking all before I answer that for you specifically we'll just take a little bit about that look at the CE Marking itself that's what it looks like and if you enlarge it rules and regulations regarding this a fairly straightforward if you enlarge or reduce it you must maintain those proportion and you can't reduce it to a vertical dimension less than five millimeters and that's really all I want to say about the mark itself so what is it well this is an interesting question for me because we conduct some local research in the UK with UK consumers and we ask the question and the it's an interesting arms that we get back we are some questions and we say who see marking for who's it aimed at and invariably people come back and say well it's aimed at consumers well it's absolutely nothing to do with consumers at all and I know I suspect I know what some of you may be thinking you're thinking what if I got and buy something that's got the CE Marking on it it's telling me it's quality and save surely well it's not the case unfortunately is actually a mark for customs it's to promote free movement of goods around the European Union an interesting note to reference here is that some non...
