This is the most bare-bones type of merge, and you can still use it to create virtually any type of finished document you want. The other way to get rid of the section breaks is to create Form Letters (by choosing that option), and then use Find and Replace to remove the section breaks in the final document.
Press Ctrl+Home to go to the top of the envelope. Click the Layout tab of the ribbon. Click the page dialog arrow in the lower right corner of the Page Setup group. Click OK without changing anything. Press Ctrl+End to go to the blank page. Press F4 to redo the page setup.
Go to the VIEW tab, select Navigation Pane in the Show section, select the blank page thumbnail in the left panel, and press your delete key until it is removed. Check your sections: Go to the PAGE LAYOUT tab, click the Margins button, and select Custom Margins.
If your empty page occurs at the end of your document, and you have a section break there, you can place your cursor directly before the section break and press Delete to delete it. That should remove the blank page.

Under certain circumstances, the section break, or actually the blank paragraph containing the section break, may cause an extra page (this might happen below a table, for example). Formatting it as 1 pt font size, exact line spacing 1 pt, zero spacing before/after should fix it.
