The Formula for Calculating Formula To determine how many ounces per bottle, divide those amounts by the number of feedings your baby takes per day. In this example, if your baby is taking six bottles in 24 hours, he would need approximately 5-ounce bottles.
1 So for an average 3-month-old baby boy who weighs 13 pounds, that would be about 32 1/2 ounces a day. The AAP also states that 'most babies are satisfied with 3 to 4 ounces per feeding during the first month, and increase that amount by 1 ounce per month until reaching 8 ounces. '

A 3-month-old baby should be eating about 4-6 ounces of milk about six to eight times a day.
General Guidelines for Baby Feeding: Most newborns eat every 2 to 3 hours, or 8 to 12 times every 24 hours. Babies might only take in half ounce per feeding for the first day or two of life, but after that will usually drink 1 to 2 ounces at each feeding. This amount increases to 2 to 3 ounces by 2 weeks of age.
On average, 6-month-old babies drink between 6 and 8 ounces of milk or formula at each feeding, and most are feeding every 4-5 hours. Within the next two to four months, your baby will start eating solids more often and gaining more nutrition (including protein) from these non-milk meals.
Overfeeding a baby often causes the baby discomfort because he or she can't digest all the breast milk or formula properly. When fed too much, a baby may also swallow air, which can produce gas, increase discomfort in the belly, and lead to crying. Babies give cues during feeding that indicate how hungry they are.
Between the second and sixth day, your milk production will increase and your newborn may take approximately 2 to 3 ounces every 3 hours (14 to 28 ounces per day). Then from 1 month and 6 months, your baby will take an average of 3 to 3 1/2 ounces every three hours (25 oz — 26 oz of breast milk each day).
