You will need to make a DMV appointment for the written test. We recommend that you wait until you have your certificate in hand before making an appointment to avoid rescheduling. Can I walk in to a DMV office at any time and take my learner's permit knowledge test? No. Learner's permit tests are by appointment only, and you must use DMV's online service to schedule your knowledge exam and make your payment.
To take your driving test, you will need to: Make a Behind-the-Wheel Drive Test appointment (drive tests are not given without an appointment.) To make an appointment, call 1-800-777-0133 between the hours of 8am and 5pm Monday-Friday. Or you can make a DMV appointment online. Provide proof of financial responsibility.
