Instructions and Help about ATF 530011

Hi guys thanks for tuning in to another QA video on Forgotten weapons calm the questions we have today been primarily from patreon supporters first off it just like to say thank you very much to everyone who contributes to help support me on Patreon that is a very large part of what allows me to continue to do this on a regular basis as a full-time thing so thank you very much hopefully you enjoy what we're putting out here now a cut the first couple questions I have been not actually from patreon however they are questions that I have seen over and over and over again in YouTube comments, and so I thought we ought to at least address those, so we're going to start off with a question about guns flexing in slow motion this comes up primarily with the a.k but pretty much every time you put up a video of a gun in slow motion I'll get a lot of comments from people who say something like wow that gun is horrible look at how its wibbly-wobbly bending all over the place when it fires competitive gun X was obviously a lot better well it's not the case actually having done a bunch of high-speed video of rifles now you might be surprised to find that virtually all shoulder rifles flex a lot in slow motion some of the parts that you might expect like spring-loaded rear sight bounce all the time and then parts that you wouldn't expect like the barrels flexing this is just a normal fact of life and that's what happens when shoulder rifles are fired now it's happening because the barrels tend to be relatively thin if you were to get slow-motion video something like a 1919 a four with a barrel that's probably an inch in diameter yeah that one's not going to flex so much but thin barrels which are required to have a light enough rifle to be a shoulder rifle those things are going to flex all over the place they kind of look like they're made out of jell-o on high-speed now the aka in particular is does this more than others because of the way it's gas system is set up it has a gas port that's fairly far forward it has a rather large mass of gas piston and bolt carrier which are one single component part and what happens is good, and you also have a relatively large distance between the center axis of the or in the center access of the gas piston so what happens when you fire it is the gas comes into the gas block, and it's going to throw the barrel the the gas piston backwards because of Newton's law when the gas piston goes backwards you've got an equal amount of force pushing forward on the gas block because the gas block is relatively high off the barrel it has a lot of moment, and it's going to tend to push the barrel down so both the gas piston goes this way the gas block tries to go this way, but it can't because it's tethered to the barrel, so it tends to go down like this instead if you watch high-speed clips of a case fire and closely once you know to look for that you'll see it you'll see that the motion really comes from the gas block rather than...
