(1) All applicants for a permit must meet the minimum age requirement specified on the application for the permit. (2) Persons who have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor, or persons who have ever been adjudicated as sexually violent predators. The Sexual Crime Victim Impact Panel in the Office of the Attorney General must approve a fingerprinting and certification of sexual offender status before obtaining a sexual offender status certificate. (3) Persons convicted of any felony involving a firearm or a person who has been adjudicated as a violent sex offender may also request a firearm permit pursuant to subsection (d)(4). (4) Individuals who are unable to obtain a sexual offender status certificate pursuant to subsection (b)(3) and who wish to register with the Department of Criminal Justice Services and obtain a firearm shall apply for a permit to receive a firearm upon a conviction under subsection (b)(3). A permit to receive a firearm shall not authorize the recipient to carry a firearm in the Commonwealth unless the recipient is a law enforcement officer and is authorized by law to carry a firearm while performing that officer's official duties. The permit to receive a firearm permit is issued by the Department pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 58 of Title 44 of the Code of Virginia, and shall be renewed by the Department only upon the payment of a 10.00 renewal fee. (5) All applicants for a permit to receive a firearm shall sign and authorize verification of the following information to be entered on the application for the permit: 1. The full name of the applicant. 2. The applicant's date of birth. 3. The applicant's Social Security Number, if provided. 4. The applicant's date and place of birth. 5. The address of the applicant's current residence. 6. The address of any other residence at which the applicant intends to be a resident during the term of the permit which the applicant is seeking to obtain. 7.
