Instructions and Help about swim meet heat sheet

Hi I'm Monica Abilene with the Colorado Association of swimming and diving officials today I've prepared an instructional video that will cover the following topics number one the dive table the five categories of dives and the four dive positions our second category will be the five elements to a successful dive number three helpful hints and scoring of the dive and number four professionalism and rule book knowledge after today's video I hope that this will give you a little more insight on how to properly judge the high school dive the forward group 100 series the back group 200 series the reverse group 300 series the inward group 400 series and the twisting group from the 5000 series the Tuck position body bent at the hip and knees toes pointed the pike position body bent at the hips legs straight the straight position body shall not be bent at either knees or hips and the free position in which a combination of positions may be used to perform the twisting dive the forward starting position includes good posture eyes focused on the end of the board with arms in a position of the divers choice the forward approach shall be less than three steps and have finished with the hurdles defined as a jump off of one foot to a landing on both feet at the end of the board you let's take a look at this approach and hurdle again in slow motion this is what we call a backwards hurdle and can be pretty dangerous deductions to your total score should be made for this type of hurdle let's watch now the diver takes off of one foot is going to come down to land on two feet look how far back he is from the end of the board this can cause some huge problems in the flight of the dive the back inward starting position requires an upright head and body with arms straight and in a position of the divers choice the back and inward takeoff requires the board to be stopped just before or after the starting position is assumed no more than four oscillations prior to our movement and the feet must not leave the board prior to takeoff there is a half to two point deduction for the diver who does not stop the board prior to or just after assuming the starting position excessive oscillations any more than four prior to our movement will receive one half to two point deduction in this case it probably should be the full two points you a crow hop is when a divers feet or foot leave the board prior to takeoff each judge should deduct 1/2 to 2 points for the severity of the hop you yes you can't effectively press the bar without crawl hopping it's just proper mechanics nowadays especially club divers are starting to use a crow hop in order to get the board moving more like a forward approach, but that is not what an inward or our back is, and you can jump just as high without doing it the just proper technique, and it takes longer to master, so there's no reason for a diver to crow hop let's take one more look at the curl hop in slow motion watch how the divers feet leave the...
