He was then released and told me that they told a similar tale of the Devil, but they were less superstitious as that account concerned a woman, but he explained to me the demon's tale which was far worse: it was of a man whose whole body was changed into something unidentifiable, so they tried to cut him into pieces and take the pieces and cast them into the river, but could not do it easily because the river was too deep. The demons were also told that if they took one of the fragments which they got from the river and put it into the body of a young girl, that child would go into a fit of madness and bite others.
