A timeshare contract gives you the right to use a vacation property for a set period each year. It's a cheap and flexible way of going on vacation, at least compared to buying a property outright. Not every timeshare contract is the same — you can own, rent, or opt for a points-based system.

Can you really get out of a timeshare contract?

Timeshare purchasers usually get the right to rescind the contract within a specific amount of time. Most states and some foreign countries have laws giving timeshare buyers at least a few days to cancel the agreement, usually between 3 and 15 days.
