LSAC developed LSAT Writing in response to feedback from test takers. The new approach has shortened the LSAT test day and provides more flexibility for candidates taking the exam. Using LSAT Writing, candidates can now complete the writing sample portion of the test at a convenient time and place of their choosing.
Yes! LSAC will provide scratch paper and a pen for test takers to use during the test. Digital LSAT test takers will also be permitted to use their own pencil and eraser for making notes. We will provide a stylus that can be used to underline and highlight text on the tablet.
But most students I know like the multiple choice, and if you're in that majority, then rest easy; the new digital format won't change that feature. The digital LSAT, just like the paper LSAT, will be timed at 35 minutes per section. You won't have to move any faster on the digital test than you did on any paper LSAT.
The July 2019 LSAT was a transition exam, with half of test-takers being assigned a paper-and-pencil exam, and half of test-takers being assigned a digital exam. The September 2019 LSAT will be the first fully digitally-administered exam.
Starting with September 2019 exam, all LSAT administrations will be digital. However, the structure and scoring of the digital LSAT will be the same as the paper-based test, so there's no real change for students.
It doesn't. Yes, you read that right; you have to spend 35 minutes composing an essay that has no effect on your overall score. The essay itself isn't even scored separately. LSAT Writing is a 35-minute assignment. It requires you to write a persuasive essay in favor of a particular choice among two possible options. We'll explore the specifics of the task, known as a Decision Prompt, shortly.
LSAT Writing is a proctored, on-demand writing exam that is administered online using secure proctoring software that is installed on the candidate's own computer. LSAC developed LSAT Writing in response to feedback from test takers.
While your performance on the LSAT writing sample is not even within the same realm of importance as your LSAT score, your GPA, personal statement, or your letters of recommendation, it is still important to take the written section of the LSAT seriously, because some law schools do read your LSAT writing sample when ...
The LSAT is comprised of five sections of multiple-choice questions: Logical Reasoning (two sections), Analytical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, and an unscored Variable Section. A Writing Sample is administered at the end of the test.
