Click where you want to add the footnote. Click Insert > Insert Footnote. Word inserts a reference mark in the text and adds the footnote mark at the bottom of the page. Type the footnote text.
Go to where you want to insert the end note or footnote. On the Insert tab, go End note or Footnote. Type the end note or footnote text. Double-tap the reference numeral to jump between the note and where the note is referenced in your document.

Place the cursor where you would like the superscript number to appear. Click on Insert Footnote in the References tab. The corresponding number will be automatically inserted in the footer ready for you to add the footnote citation. Type in your footnote citation.
References are indicated within the text by a footnote, references are then given at the bottom of the page. Footnotes should be placed at the end of the relevant sentence where possible and should follow punctuation (for example, by being placed after the full stop).
In Google Docs in a browser, place your cursor at the point you want to add a footnote, then choose Insert | Footnote. In Google Docs on Android or iOS, tap the spot in your text where you want to add a footnote, then tap the + at the top of the screen, then scroll down and tap Footnote.
Press Alt+Ctrl+F to insert a footnote. Press Alt+Ctrl’D to insert an end note.
Place your cursor in the body text where you want the footnote superscript to appear. Select the References tab in the ribbon toolbar. Click Insert Footnote. Type your footnote according to style. Repeat the process for every additional footnote.
