Why messages get blocked To protect you against potential viruses and harmful software, Gmail doesn't allow you to attach certain types of files, including: Certain types of files, including their compressed form (like .go or.bz2 files) or when found within archives (like .zip or .TGZ files)
Open an email that has a blocked attachment by clicking on it. Click the option labeled “Show Content” on the top of the opened email message to unblock the attachment. Click the “Forward” option located on the top of your Hotmail account.
Open Gmail client in the browser. Open the flagged mail and click on the menu and select Show Original. Right-click on the Download Original link and choose Save as from the contextual menu. Change the .txt extension to .EML and save it.

Some Gmail users have found that the Attached files option in Gmail doesn't always work. Whenever they try to attach a file to email, Gmail returns an error message stating, Attachment failed. This may be due to a proxy or firewall. Consequently, they can't attach files to emails.
Double-click the message to open it in its own windows. Place the message in Edit Mode. Open the attachments. Make the changes to the attachments. Save and close the attachment. Save and close the Outlook message.
This means they scan file attachments of emails you send and receive. Some providers even go as far as to block a number of file extensions per default. Gmail for example won't let you send .exe files, even if they are archived in a .zip, .tar, .TGZ, .tax,.z, or .go file.
