Can I turn a contract phone into a prepaid?
To turn a contract cell phone into a prepaid cell phone, you must “unlock” the phone for use on a network that offers prepaid SIM cards. The unlocking process is simple and straightforward. You must obtain a special unlock code for your particular device and enter the code to unlock the phone.
Can I make my old iPhone a prepaid phone?
Apple's iPhone is a popular product due to its many features. If you want an iPhone but don't have the budget for a plan, you can easily turn an iPhone into a prepaid phone by removing the SIM card and replacing it with one activated for an AT&T prepaid plan.
Can you use an old phone for prepaid?
You can only use your old handset to get a prepaid SIM from the same provider as your previous one. Many phones are programmed to only work with the providers you got the phone from in the beginning. If you wish to switch to another provider, you have to get a new handset along with the SIM card.
Can I add minutes to an old iPhone?
To start, you need an AT&T or unlocked iPhone. Go to an AT&T store (or website) and sign up for the $25/250 minute prepaid plan (aka Phone). If you have an iPhone 4 or newer you'll need to size down the SIM to a micro SIM.
Can I use my old Verizon iPhone for prepaid?
As long as the device is not reported lost or stolen you would be able to use you a Verizon device on prepaid.
Is prepaid cell phone better than contract?
Some contract carriers allow you to add extra users for $10 a month and may offer them free phones, too. If you have a family plan, you may find it less expensive than the prepaid option which could be up to $50 per phone month. With prepaid plans, you pay for your phone up front.
