Below is a list of the most common customer questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Those products that are used during menstruation may also be called menstrual hygiene products. Products used may include sanitary napkins (American English) or sanitary towels (British English), tampons, pantyliner, menstrual cups, and period panties.
Tampons and Pads, followed closely by tampons, are the most frequently chosen period product for maintaining menstrual hygiene. Pads and tampons are made with a combination of absorbent fibers, both natural and synthetic, including cotton and rayon.
At MADE SAFE, we recommend period products that are safe for you and planet: pads, tampons and panty liners made from 100% organic cotton. Menstrual cups made from 100% silicone. And period panties made primarily with 100% organic cotton.
Cotton balls, cotton wool, and gauze are all absorbent materials that you can use as a pad in a pinch. If you find cotton wool or gauze, fold and stack it together until it's the shape of a pad. If you have cotton balls, wrap at least 6-7 of them in toilet paper to keep them together.
Stick the pad in your underwear using the sticky strip on the back. Some reusable pads are held in place with snaps or the elastic in your underwear. Change your pad every few hours, or when it's soaked with blood. Wrap used pads in the wrapper or toilet paper and throw them in the trash.
Pads, followed closely by tampons, are the most frequently chosen period product for maintaining menstrual hygiene. Pads and tampons are made with a combination of absorbent fibers, both natural and synthetic, including cotton and rayon. Pads are adhesive and rest on the inside of your underwear to absorb your flow.
Should I use toilet paper as a sanitary pad even when my period is heavy? Toilet paper should only be used in cases of emergency where you don't have access to pads, tampons, or menstrual cups. For a heavier flow, double up on toilet paper and switch it often to make sure you don't leak through.
SOCKS: Use your old socks to make a temporary pad. You can wrap a toilet paper around the sock on your underwear to prevent it from shifting. Socks are usually sweat absorbent and hence make makeshift pads.
