This is a great opportunity to sell yourself while putting the pressure on the organization to make a fair offer by saying something along the lines of: I'm more interested in finding a position that's a good fit for my skills and interests.
This lower number should be the bottom of your range. For example, if $30,000 is the lowest you would like to go, state in your cover letter the following: My salary requirement is in the $30,000 40,000+ range. You could also say that it's negotiable based upon the responsibilities and total compensation package.
Leave the field blank. Put a zero or type “No” in the field. Type in “N/A” (for not appropriate or not applicable). Type a sequence of numbers like 123456 or 11111. Put your target or real salary number in the field.
