How long can a house remain a property under contract? The closing stage of the home buying process typically takes 30 to 45 days (and even up to 60 days under certain markets during peak periods).
Usually, once a home is Under Contract, buyers do not want to see it. There is an option on the MLS to mark the listing as Under Contract/ Continue to Show. However, this is usually reserved for homes such as Short Sales where the owner has accepted the offer, but it still needs to be submitted to the bank for approval.
Most contracts have a blank to put in the closing date. Just write in a date that is 45-60 days from the time you sign the contract.
Once a house is under contract, that means the buyer made an offer on the house, and the seller accepted that offer, but the sale is not final. The transaction needs to be complete for the status of the house to change to Sold.
A: “Under Contract” means that the sellers have accepted an offer from a buyer, but that the sale has not yet been completed. Typically, it takes 30-45 days from the date an offer is accepted until the sales contract “closes” and the sale is complete.
