free trial is great thanks but not sure how long i will need access for. I can cancel my subscription and thats great too but it means that i most likely wont pay the first subscription. Great for me but not for you. My point is, I would have been more than happy to pay maybe a "pay as you go" fee. Something like £2 to download for example, then maybe i would have to subscribe to use the other options available. just a though. thanks for a great site though :)

A concrete footing should be 100 mm deep by 300 mm wide if the footing is for a freestanding wall. The footing should be increased to 150 mm deep and 450 mm wide if the wall being built is a retaining wall.
A concrete footing should be 100 mm deep by 300 mm wide if the footing is for a freestanding wall. The footing should be increased to 150 mm deep and 450 mm wide if the wall being built is a retaining wall. For larger retaining walls an engineer may need to be approached for advice.
A. No, you do not need a concrete footing, it will actually adhere the wall from being able to naturally shift. It is best to use a coarse stone aggregate for the Retaining Wall footing. ... A. It is recommended that a drainage system always be installed behind a wall structure.
Depth: Footings should extend to a minimum depth of 12 inches below previously undisturbed soil. Footings also must extend at least 12 inches below the frost line (the depth to which the ground freezes in winter) or must be frost-protected. Width: Footings should have a minimum width of 12 inches.
The width of the foundation should be a minimum of 100 mm wide each side of the wall and the top a minimum of 150 mm below the ground. The depth of the foundations differ due to the ground conditions, if you have stone underneath then 300-600 m will be sufficient.
For ordinary garden sheds, a thickness of 3" (75 mm) is sufficient in most situations. On soft clay, or on larger buildings, increase the thickness to 4" (100 mm) laid on 2" (50 mm) of finely broken and compacted hard-core if required. Half the depth of the base (approx) should be above ground level.
The best foundation for your shed will depend largely on what the building inspector recommends, but keep in mind that it's often based on three key factors: the size of the shed, the region of the country in which it's being built, and the type of shed floor you plan to include.
The first step in building a block wall is pouring a concrete footing for the blocks to rest on. The footing has to be below frost line and as level as you can make it. For a foundation wall with 7 courses (rows) of block, the footing was 30 inches below grade, 24 inches wide and 12 inches deep.
Footers must be a minimum of 24 inches deep. There must be a minimum of 6 inches of concrete in the footer, 2 story home-8 inches deep. Rebars are required in dwellings. Either 1/2 inch or 5/8 inch is permitted.
Minimum depth of footing to be 24 inches below final grade and 12 inches below existing grade. Footing size to be based on allowable soil pressure of 2000 pounds per square foot. Anchor Bolts are to be 1/2 inch diameter, within 12 inches of corners and placed a MAXIMUM 6 feet o.c.
