Below is a list of the most common customer questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Certify by Mail You will receive your first claim form within 10 days of the EDD processing your application. Additional claim forms will be mailed to you each time you need to certify for benefits.
When do I get paid after I certify? If your certification responses are approved, benefits are paid within 2-3 business days. (Federal & State holidays may delay payments by an additional 24 hours.)
You can check your claim status online at Unemployment Benefits Services or call Releaser at 800-558-8321 and select option 2. We use information from you and your last employer to determine if you qualify.
You should receive payment within a couple of days after receipt of your filed claim every two weeks, if you used Direct Deposit. UI Checks are only valid for 12 months after he dates issued.
If you miss your regular call day (Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday), you may still certify on Thursday or Friday of that same week, either online or by calling (Tele-Serve). You may also certify on your regular call day in the following week (or Thursday or Friday of that week).
In most states, if you are scheduled for a phone interview, it occurs within ten days of filing. Most people receive their first benefit check within two to three weeks of filing their claim, says the U.S. Department of Labor, despite the prevalence of phone interviews.
The EDD notifies you that you have weeks available for certification. If you are registered with UI Online SM log in to your account and check the Notifications section on the homepage. If there are weeks available, a Certify for Benefits button will appear. If not, the system will advise you when to check back.
Once a properly completed claim form is received, the EDD usually determines whether you are eligible to receive DI benefits within 14 days.
