The 26 code words in the NATO phonetic alphabet are assigned to the 26 letters of the English alphabet in alphabetical order as follows: Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, Golf, Hotel, India, Juliet, Kilo, Lima, Mike, November, Oscar, Father, Quebec, Romeo, Sierra, Tango, Uniform, Victor, Whiskey, X-ray, Yankee
A typical use of the NATO Phonetic Alphabet would be to spell out each letter in a word over the phone by saying, for example: “S as in Sierra” (or “S for Sierra”), “E as in Echo, Y as in Yankee, F as in Foxtrot, R as in Romeo, I as in India, E as in Echo, D as in Delta” to communicate the spelling of the name “
As you can see on the keypad, each number from 2-9 corresponds to 3 or 4 letters. That number can be any of those 3 or 4 letters, so 1 press of “2” corresponds to either an “A” “B” or “C”. So dialing 1-800-555-APPL would be 1-800-555-2775 (just an example). This is the same for all phones, not just the iPhone.
Go to the Settings tab on the resource panel. Go to Preferences — Outgoing Call. Turn on Turn Letters to Numbers.
There is no letter keyboard for the dial pad in the Phone app. There are letters associated with each number — i.e. A, B and C are represented by 2, so just enter the number associated with the letter you want to enter. The letters should be printed below the number.
phone number. In instances where a phone number consists of words/letters, the letters correspond to the specific number on the telephone keypad. For example, if a phone number was 555-TESTING, the letter 'T' would correspond to the number 8, the letter 'E' would correspond to the number 3, 'S' to 7, and so on.
Alpha Bravo Charlie. The NATO Phonetic Alphabet, also sometimes referred to as Alpha Bravo Charlie is actually officially called the International Radiotelephone Spelling Alphabet. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) created code words that it connected to the letters of the English alphabet.
The United States Military relies on the NATO phonetic alphabet code covering letters A to Z (26 in all). As such, 'A' becomes 'Alpha', 'B' becomes 'Bravo, 'C' becomes 'Charlie' and so on.
