Titles of full works like books or newspapers should be italicized. Titles of short works like poems, articles, short stories, or chapters should be put in quotation marks. Titles of books that form a larger body of work may be put in quotation marks if the name of the book series is italicized.
The general rule when considering whether to underline or italicize movies and television series titles is to put them in italics because they're considered long works. Italicized text is a slightly slanted version of the words. Movies that are part of a series, such as The Godfather, are put in italics.
Italicize titles if the source is self-contained and independent. Titles of books, plays, films, periodicals, databases, and websites are italicized. Place titles in quotation marks if the source is part of a larger work. Articles, essays, chapters, poems, webpages, songs, and speeches are placed in quotation marks.
In general, you should italicize the titles of long works, like books, movies, or record albums. Use quotation marks for the titles of shorter pieces of work: poems, articles, book chapters, songs, T.V. episodes, etc.
The in-text citation must always correspond with the first word of the Works Cited entry. For movie citations, this is usually the title in italics. If the title is longer than a few words, shorten it to the first word or phrase. Instead of a page number, add the time range of the part you are quoting or referring to.
Do you underline movie titles? In APA, MLA and Chicago styles, film or movie titles are formatted the same. In each of these styles, you should not underline movie titles instead, they should be written in italics in the body of the text.
Use double or 1.5 line spacing. Use a nice ordinary font. Use a font size no smaller than 12, and no larger than 14. Use standard margins. Chapter breaks should be marked by page breaks, so each new chapter starts on a clean sheet.
The most basic label is naming your chapters with numbers one, two, three, etc. Clean, easy to follow, and they don't intrude on the readers' experience, allowing them to just zip on through the novel.
