For pdfFiller’s FAQs

Below is a list of the most common customer questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
After a credit card transaction is made, an issuing bank sends an authorization code to the merchant, and then the settlement stage or batch processing begins. It is called batch processing because a number (or batch) of transactions is settled all at one time.
Batch credit card processing is the practice of a merchant processing all of its authorized credit card transactions for the day after the close of business or at a time determined by the credit card processor. Each of those banks then remits the payments to the merchant in a step called settlement.
Batch payments. If you make a payment to a supplier, or receive a payment from a customer, which covers several invoices, you can apply the payments to multiple invoices in one transaction. You can choose to either allocate the payment in full or in part to reduce the balance across the invoices selected.
An example of batch processing is the way that credit card companies process billing. The customer does not receive a bill for each separate credit card purchase but one monthly bill for all of that months purchases. The opposite of batch processing is transaction processing or interactive processing.
If you don't settle transactions on the same day especially when your volumes are huge then squaring off the OFFS transactions will take much longer and hence the money due to you will be delayed. When your volumes are large you might end up upsetting your cash flows.
For that to happen, you must first batch and settle your credit card transactions. The word “batch” refers to putting a collection of credit card charges into a group. The word “settle” refers to sending the funds off to your bank account. You can either manually or automatically batch and settle transactions.

It simply means at the time you swiped the card or keyed in your customer's information, there was enough money in the account to cover your charge. If you're batching out at the end of the day, you won't know about any problems with the payment until the next day after the transactions are processed by the issuing bank.
