Get your vehicle identification number (VIN). You can find it on an insurance card or on your vehicle's title. Call a same-make dealership. If you know where the vehicle was purchased, call there, as staff can look up the vehicle's purchase date in any department (sales or service).
Perhaps the simplest way to check to see if your used car is under warranty is to use a service such as CARFAX. You can go their website, and enter your VIN number and retrieve information about your vehicle including service history and the car warranty.
The Manufacturer's Promise Essentially, an auto warranty is a promise given by the manufacturer or dealer to cover various defects and repairs over an allotted amount of time and/or certain amount of mileage on the car. In general, a basic warranty will last about three years or 36,000 miles.
Just call 1-800-333-4 KIA (4542). You'll need to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) so they can verify coverage, and then you'll be on your way in no time.
Damage from a natural disaster also voids your warranty, as the car's warranty only covers manufacturer's defects. Some examples of natural or environmental disasters that would void your car's warranty are earthquakes, fires, and hurricanes.
Basic Toyota Warranty Coverage includes repairs and adjustments related to defects in materials or workmanship, excluding normal wear and maintenance items. Coverage lasts for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first.
Federal regulations require that this warranty be in effect for two years or 24,000 miles from the vehicle's in-service date, whichever occurs first. However, under the terms of the Basic Warranty, Toyota provides coverage of three years or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first.
