What happens if you put a stamp in the wrong place?
All this requires the stamp in the proper location. Putting the stamp in the wrong corner brings this process to a screeching halt and detours your letter into the manual cases. Postage Stamp should always be placed in the top right corner of the envelope with the return address on the left side of the envelope.

Why do you put a stamp on the right?
Once machines came into the picture, the postal service needed to establish a set of rules and decided to have the stamp placed in the top-right corner because it correlated with the mail handlers' dominant, right hand.
