Using this site to fill out divorce paperwork. Sometimes the text is too big for the field I'm in, but other than that I think that the site is awesome.

I think your site is well designed and has substantial potential. But being unfamiliar with all the choices, my initial effort at using your site took a little longer that I had hoped it would. But that is a minor critique. i'll do more exploring at a later date.

In summer, growth is slower; the wood has smaller cells and is darker. So when the tree is cut, the layers appear as alternating rings of light and dark wood. Click the cross-section of the tree ring above to view the whole ring as it came from the tree. Count the dark rings, and you know the tree's age.
Wrap the tape measure around the tree at about four and a half feet above the ground. This measurement is the tree's circumference. ... Use the circumference to find the diameter of the tree. ... Determine the age of the tree by multiplying the diameter by the growth factor.
To determine the age of a tree, first find its diameter by measuring the circumference of the trunk in inches and then dividing that number by pi. Once you have the tree's diameter, look up the growth factor for the type of tree you're measuring, which is how much width it gains annually.
Tree Rings Indicate Age of the Tree A one-year cycle comprises a light pale wood that grew at the start of the year and a dark wood that grew at the end of the year. When a tree is cut, you will notice alternating light and dark wood rings. Count the dark rings, and you will get the tree's age.
Determine the species of oak in your backyard. ... Measure the circumference of the oak's trunk. ... Calculate the diameter of the oak. ... Determine the growth factor for your oak. ... Multiply the oak's diameter in inches times the growth factor to get the approximate age of your oak.
Some shorter-lived trees are included palms, which can live around 50 years. The persimmon has an average lifespan of 60 years, and the black willow will probably survive for around 75 years. On the other hand, Alaska red cedar can live up to 3,500 years.
Each ring marks a complete cycle of seasons, or one year, in the tree's life. As of 2013, the oldest tree-ring measurements in the Northern Hemisphere are a floating sequence extending from about 12,580 to 13,900 years.
Collect a circle of wood from a tree that has been cut down or locate a stump of a tree that is not rotted. Examine the wood for a circular pattern of light and dark rings. Each ring represents a layer of wood growth. ... Count only the dark rings. Start from the middle and move outward toward one side.
Diameter Growth Each year, the tree forms new cells, arranged in concentric circles called annual rings or annual growth rings. These annual rings show the amount of wood produced during one growing season. In Canada and the North United States, the growing season begins in the spring.
The trees don't need to be cut down to see their rings. Instead, a special tool is used to bore out a thin, pencil-sized core from a living tree. Removing such a core does little or no damage to the tree. ... As a tree grows, it forms new wood near the outer part of its trunk, just beneath the bark.
