I was desperately trying to edit a pdf copy of the P&S and we could not convert it to a Word document. Finding your website where I could make edits to the form, made my life a whole lot easier. However, I work for a law firm and we normally do not have to do these types of documents. So I am afraid I will have to cancel once the document is finalized. What is the legal status of a digital signature or e-signature?
Both BETA and DESIGN grant electronic signatures the same legal status as traditional wet ink signatures in the U.S. These acts: Establish that any law with a signature requirement can be satisfied by an electronic signature. Allow electronically executed agreements to be presented as evidence in court.
Does the sign Act give legal effect to an e-signature explain?
The DESIGN Act is a federal law passed in 2000. It grants legal recognition to electronic signatures and records if all parties to a contract choose to use electronic documents and to sign them electronically. No contract, signature, or record shall be denied legal effect solely because it is in electronic form.
