To make a field mandatory when used through Jira's user interface, click the Required link associated with that field. The text Required appears next to the field's name. Hidden fields cannot be set as required. To make a field optional, click the Optional link associated with that field.

Select Delete Issues, and click Next. If available, decide whether you'd like to send email notifications. Click Next. Review your bulk operation, and click Confirm when you are happy with the operation.
Perform a search with the required filters to produce a list of issues. Select Tools > Bulk Change. Select the issues you'd like to perform the bulk operation on, and select Next. Select Edit Issues, and select Next.
