To make an appointment in your local office DO NOT CALL THAT OFFICE. Local offices do not make their own appointments. Instead, call the toll-free number 1-800-772-1213. Social Security schedules appointments 2-4 weeks in the future.
Yes, you can simply walk in. However, depending on the day, and how busy the office is, you will likely have a wait and should be prepared for that. Please be aware though that most things these days can be handled online or by phone.
