Employers must complete and sign Section 2 of Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, within 3 business days of the date of hire of their employee (the hire date means the first day of work for pay). For example, if your employee began work for pay on Monday, you must complete Section 2 by Thursday of that week.
Section One: Employee Information and Attestation. Completed by employees. Section Two: Employer or Authorized Representative Review and Verification. Completed by employers. Section Three: Reverification and Rehires.
New Form I-9 Released On Jan. 31, 2020, USCIS published the Form I-9 Federal Register notice announcing a new version of Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, that the Office of Management and Budget approved on Oct. 21, 2019. This new version contains minor changes to the form and its instructions.
10.3. 2 Electronic Signature of Form I-9. You may choose to complete a paper Form I-9 and scan and upload the original signed form to retain it electronically. Upon request of the employee, provide a printed confirmation of the transaction to the person providing the signature.
