What does formatting mean in spreadsheets?

When we format cells in Excel, we change the appearance of a number without changing the number itself. We can apply a number format (0.8, $0.80, 80%, etc) or other formatting (alignment, font, border, etc).

Why is it important to format a spreadsheet?

Good formatting will help enhance your data in several ways: Formatting cells, so they present data correctly (example: formatting as dates or currency) will give more value to your data. How do you change sheet format in Excel?

Click on the Format Painter button on the Standard toolbar.
