Application Audit. An application audit is a specific audit of one application. For example, an audit of an Excel spreadsheet with embedded macros used to analyze data and generate reports could be considered an Application Audit.
An application control audit is designed to ensure that an application's transactions and the data it outputs are secure, accurate and valid. Performing an application control audit for every piece of software in your application portfolio can be both time-consuming and expensive.
Application control is a security practice that blocks or restricts unauthorized applications from executing in ways that put data at risk. Application control includes completeness and validity checks, identification, authentication, authorization, input controls, and forensic controls, among others.
ITC include controls over the Information Technology (IT) environment, computer operations, access to programs and data, program development and program changes. IT application controls refer to transaction processing controls, sometimes called “input-processing-output” controls.
On the whole, general controls apply to all computerized applications and consist of a combination of hardware, software, and manual procedures that create an overall control environment. Application controls are specific controls unique to each computerized application, such as payroll or order processing.
A process audit is an examination of results to determine whether the activities, resources and behaviors that cause them are being managed efficiently and effectively. A process audit is not simply following a trail through a department from input to output — this is a transaction audit.
Step 1: Define Audit Objectives. Prior to the audit, AMOS conducts a preliminary planning and information gathering phase. Step 2: Audit Announcement. Step 3: Audit Entrance Meeting. Step 4: Fieldwork. Step 5: Reviewing and Communicating Results. Step 6: Audit Exit Meeting. Step 7: Audit Report.
Quality audit is the process of systematic examination of a quality system carried out by an internal or external quality auditor or an audit team. This can help determine if the organization complies with the defined quality system processes and can involve procedural or results-based assessment criteria.
