The only issue I had was I had to complete it all in one sitting. Even though I paid for the sertvice it wouldn't let me save it. I started the document 3 times and lost all previous info the first two times.

Forms authentication enables user and password validation for Web applications that do not require Windows authentication. With forms authentication, user information is stored in an external data source, such as a Membership database, or in the configuration file for an application.
Using Form-Based Authentication A client requests access to a protected resource. If the client is unauthenticated, the server redirects the client to a login page. The client submits the login form to the server. If the login succeeds, the server redirects the client to the resource.
Form Based Authentication in MVC. In MVC as we know that we create action which calls view accordingly. So we have to authenticate the action that whether the authorize person is going to access the action or not.
The Forms Authentication Timeout value sets the amount of time in minutes that the authentication cookie is set to be valid, meaning, that after value number of minutes, the cookie will expire and the user will no longer be authenticated they will be redirected to the login page automatically.
Open IIS Manager and navigate to the level you want to manage. In Features View, double-click Authentication. On the Authentication page, select Forms Authentication. In the Actions pane, click Enable to use Forms authentication with the default settings.
