What is a UL Approved Label? UL Recognized Component Labels are labels that have met a permanence of marking criteria via testing (UL 969) to remain affixed to UL end-products permanently. Note that if the marks are added to safety-related information printed on the label it is called a Combination Label.
UL stands for Underwriters Laboratories, an organization that has been around for more than 100 years. UL sets standards for different product categories and tests products to make sure they meet the standards. In this way, UL is similar to the CE marking organization.
UL Listed Mark (all variations) UL Listing means that UL has tested representative samples of a product and determined that the product meets specific, defined requirements. These requirements are often based on UL's published and nationally recognized Standards for Safety.
Start with UL requirements early in your product development cycle. Obtain a copy of the UL Standard for Safety used to evaluate your product. Use UL Recognized Components to reduce required testing. Assess your product against UL requirements.
