It served my purposes It served my purposes. There were a few instances where it would not properly let me check a box. Also, inputting dates, did not always work as expected. I was not always able to manually type in a date. It forced me to use the calendar. Sometimes. It's a good tool.

Open the table for which you want to validate records. On the Fields tab, in the Field Validation group, click Validation, and then click Record Validation Rule. Use the Expression Builder to create the rule.
In the Navigation Pane, right-click the form that you want to change, and then click Design View. Right-click the control that you want to change, and then click Properties or press F4. Click the tab in the property sheet, locate the Default Value property, and then enter your default value.
Validation is an automatic computer check to ensure that the data entered is sensible and reasonable. It does not check the accuracy of data. For example, a secondary school student is likely to be aged between 11 and 16. The computer can be programmed only to accept numbers between 11 and 16. This is a range check.
A format check is a validation check which ensures that entered data is in a particular format or pattern. The format that data must be in is specified using an input mask. The input mask is made up of special characters which indicate what characters may be typed where.
A length check could be set up to ensure that exactly 11 numbers are entered into the field. This type of validation cannot check that the 11 numbers are correct, but it can ensure that 10 or 12 numbers aren't entered. A length check can also be set up to allow characters to be entered within a certain range.
The format check ensures the range of the month, day, and year are valid and also that the date is valid. For example, 2/29/2008 is valid since 2008 was a leap year, but 2/29/2007 fails because 2007 was not a leap year.
