Faxes can be sent from and to any telephone number. They do not require a special line. The origin of any fax can be traced simply by tracing the phone number from which it was sent. You trace a fax number the same way you trace any other phone number.

Fax is traceable and, unlike email, has assured delivery. That's useful for important legally binding documents. Yes, you can scan a document and then email it, but that's a two-step process.
How can I find out who a fax number belongs to?
Go on reverse phone lookup websites such as AnyWho.com or WhitePages.com. Choose the Reverse Phone option. Enter the fax number. If the number is published or listed, it will show up with the company's or person's name, address and phone number.
