Open a spreadsheet in Google Sheets. Click Data Protected sheets and ranges. ... Click Add a sheet or range or click an existing protection to edit it. To protect a range, click Range. ... Click Set permissions or Change permissions. Choose how you want to limit editing: ... Click Save or Done.
Protect individual worksheets in a Google Spreadsheet. To do this, select Tools from the menu and choose To protect sheet. You have the option to set permissions, much like a Google Doc, that will give editing rights to: anyone invited as a collaborator; only you; or a list of collaborators.
Click the tab's drop-down arrow and choose “Protect”. Now the “Protect” sidebar will open ready for you to protect a sheet, but you want to “protect” so click “Cancel”. Now you will see the protection rule for that sheet, and now you click the trash-can icon to remove the protection for that sheet.
Click the “File” menu, and then select “Open.” Select “Upload,” click “Select a File From Your Computer,” select the Excel file, and then click “Open.” Google Sheets opens the worksheet with the protection unlocked.
Open the Google Docs Spreadsheet which you are going to collaboratively work on. Select the cell-ranges you want to protect and lock down. On the menu, go to Data >Named and protected ranges. Alternatively, you can right-click anywhere on the spreadsheet and select the same option from the context menu.
First up, start off by highlighting a cell or range of cells that you want to protect. Then, go to the Data > Protected sheets and ranges menu to start protecting these cells. See the example below for the menu option.
With the cells selected, open the Data menu and then click Protect Sheets and Ranges. The Protected Sheets and Ranges pane appears on the right. Here, you can enter a brief description and then click Set Permissions to customize the cell's protection permissions.
On your computer, open a spreadsheet in Google Sheets. Select a row or column you want to freeze or unfreeze. At the top, click View Freeze. Select how many rows or columns to freeze.
