Hi-res images are at least 300 pixels per inch (PPI). This resolution makes for good print quality, and is pretty much a requirement for anything that you want hard copies of, especially to represent your brand or other important printed materials.
A high-resolution image is anything that has at is 300 dpi high resolution with a larger pixel dimension, for example, 5000 × 4000 pixels. If you have an image that is 640 × 40 at 72dpi, you definitely have too small of an image!
To check a photo's resolution on a Windows PC, select the file you want to use. Right-click on the image and then select “Properties.” A window will appear with the image's details. Go to the “Details” tab to see the image's dimensions and resolution.
More megapixels means a higher photo resolution for printing. It holds more information. Photo resolution relates to the images' print size. It also refers to the amount of detail the photograph or image has when viewed at 100% on a computer monitor.
