I am very grateful for this software that came into my life just as I needed it. It is easy to use and I love how it saves my work automatically so I do not LOSE it. Some many times with website document editors online, I have been been disappointed after working for hours on a form, to have it just disappear. NOT HERE. How do you make a meeting tentative in Outlook?
Open the appointment, meeting, or event. On the Ribbon, use the Show As drop-down to select Busy, Working Elsewhere, Tentative, or Out of Office. Click Save & Close for an event or Send Update for a meeting.
What is tentative in Outlook meeting?
Tentative is simply a means of communicating that your “intent” is to be in the meeting. It places it in your calendar and shows in your free/busy checks that you intend to be in the meeting, but leaves the door open (so-to-speak) that you may not for some pending reason.

By default, Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013 will automatically process your meeting requests so these time-slots are reserved on your Calendar as Tentative. This is to prevent others from booking the same time-slot before you have processed an earlier sent meeting request.
