For pdfFiller’s FAQs

Below is a list of the most common customer questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce (DESIGN) Act. For an electronic signature to be legally binding under the DESIGN Act, it is recommended that all electronic signature workflows include: Intent to sign. Similar to ink signatures, a signer must show clear intent to sign an agreement electronically.
The U.S. Code defines an electronic signature for the purpose of US law as “an electronic sound, symbol, or process, attached to or logically associated with a contract or other record and executed or adopted by a person with the intent to sign the record.”
Thus in almost every state, wills and codicils have remained as more traditional legal documents requiring old-fashioned pen-to-paper signatures. Currently, Nevada is the only state that has adopted electronic wills capable of being signed electronically by their testators.'
Obviously, you cannot just take a picture of your signature on a piece of paper, crop it, and paste in your documents to use it for making the documents legal; this method will not provide any decent level of evidence as someone else can easily copy-paste it from your document to another document.
Under the DESIGN Act, an electronic signature is defined as an electronic sound, symbol, or process attached to or logically associated with a contract or other record and executed or adopted by a person with the intent to sign the record. In simple terms, electronic signatures are legally recognized as a viable
Select My Signature from the toolbar on the left. Drag and drop it to the place on the document where you need to add your wet ink signature. On the pop-up window that opens next, choose the method you want to use for signing your document. You can type, draw or upload your signature.
When to Use Wet Signatures There are also certain documents that are required by law to contain a wet signature. For example, there are certain banks that require a wet signature for loan documents. So you're able to sign contracts, agreements, and finance documents electronically as long as all parties agree.
Wet Signatures. A wet signature is when you physically sign a piece of paper. It's called a wet signature because you're probably signing with a pen, which uses liquid ink. IN most places, signing your name is considered sufficient but marking the paper with an X also counts as a wet signature as well.
How do you make a wet signature? Select My Signature from the toolbar on the left. Drag and drop it to the place on the document where you need to add your wet ink signature. On the pop-up window that opens next, choose the method you want to use for signing your document.
A 'wet ink' signature is where the parties to the document write (sign) their names with their own hands upon a paper document by ink pen. If a traditional wet ink signature on a piece of paper is scanned in to an electronic device, the scanned version is an electronic signature.
Signatures necessarily do not have to spell your full name. Signatures are a mark affixed by a person on a document to show his consent or dissent from the writing of the same, provided he puts his hand up and owns that this is his mark.
A document that's legally binding can be upheld in court. Any agreement that two parties make can be legally enforced, whether it's written or verbal. Their signature is proof of their acceptance of the contract. The signature binds both parties to the terms.
