Emphasize the beginning of the bullet point, as in this list, when the first few words capture the main idea. Make bullet points consistent in structure. Punctuate bullets consistently. Avoid ending bullet points with semicolons.

Use no punctuation after bullets that are not sentences and do not complete the stem. Use all sentences or all fragments, not a mixture.
Make sure all items in the list are related to each other. Use the same font and margin width in each bulleted point. Keep bullet points short, preferably no more than three lines long. Begin all items with the same part of speech (active verbs work well) and make sure they are in parallel form.
