As much as I like the actual experience of using your website, the way you rope people in to pay for the privilege only AFTER they finish their documents is clearly intentional and very very suspect. Can you just walk in and take your permit test?

Most states will allow you to just walk in and take your permit test without an appointment. You will need to check with your state DMV or licensing bureau on specific requirements for what kind of identification you need to bring.

Do you need to make an appointment to take the written test at the DMV?

You will need to make a DMV appointment for the written test. We recommend that you wait until you have your certificate in hand before making an appointment to avoid rescheduling. Tests are not given after 4:30pm. Make a DMV appointment by phone: 1-800-777-0133 or online (select the office visit appointment option).

Can you take a written test without an appointment?

You must pass a vision exam and a written knowledge test. Otherwise, you won't have to take a driving test. You must transfer your out-of-state license in person at your local DMV office. Currently, only four offices accept walk-ins as well as appointments. The rest are by appointment only.

Do you need to make an appointment to take the written test at the DMV in PA?

Take your eye screening and Knowledge Test at a Penn DOT Driver License Center. Note: Permit holders under the age of 18 are encouraged to schedule their exam at this time for 6 months from the date their initial permit was issued.
