Launch the Certificate Services snap-in (click Start, Programs, Administrative Tools, Certificate Authority). Navigate to your CA in the left pane, then expand its node. Click Pending Requests.
So revocation really needs to be handled by a 3rd party, out of the control of the cert holder. Usually it's done by the CA that issued the certs. To revoke a cert, you typically contact the CA, prove you are who you say you are, and request them to revoke the cert.
Digital certificates are revoked for many reasons. If a CA discovers that it has improperly issued a certificate, for example, it may revoke the original certificate and reissue a new one. Or if a certificate is discovered to be counterfeit, the CA will revoke it and add it to the CRL.
Revoke a certificate. Revoking your SSL certificate cancels it and immediately removes HTTPS from the website. Depending on your Web host, your website might display errors or become temporarily inaccessible. The process cannot be reversed.
Open Internet Explorer. In the Tools menu, select Internet Options. Go to the Advanced tab. Scroll down to the Security section. Uncheck Check for server certificate revocation option. Click OK.
Why Does It Happen? A Certificate can be revoked if user has private key been compromised. A certificate had been issued improperly. Identified entity failed to follow policy requirements like issue of false documents, falsification of software behavior, and violation of policy norms by the CA or customer.
How to Revoke a Certificate. If a certificate has been compromised, or you have another reason to remove it from circulation, right-click on it in the Issued list, go to All Tasks, then choose Revoke Certificate. The interface will ask you for a reason code and a timestamp.
