Open the document that has the picture that you want to place the watermark on. Go to the Page Layout tab. Select Page Background group. Click on Watermark. Click Custom Watermark. Click Text watermark. A box will open up. Type the text that you want to use as a watermark in the box. Click Insert.
On the Design tab, select Watermark. In the Insert Watermark dialog, select Text and either type your own watermark text or select one, like DRAFT, from the list. Then, customize the watermark by setting the font, layout, size, colors, and orientation. Select OK.

Click on Page Layout tab. In the ribbon, click on Watermark. A vertical scroll list of six watermarks will appear with a set of menu options below. From the menu options, select Custom Watermark.
Choose Layout > Watermark. In the Insert Watermark box, select Text, and then choose DRAFT.
Go to the Page Layout tab. Click the Watermark button in the Page Background group. Select Custom Watermark (at the bottom of the shortcut menu). Select the Text watermark option. Change the Text field to DRAFT. Click OK.
You can do the following: On a page where you do see the watermark, double-click the header to activate header/footer view. Press Ctrl+A to select everything in the header. If no text has been added, that will select the empty paragraph to which the object is anchored. You should now see the watermark on all pages.
Add a watermark (master object) Click one of the object buttons in the toolbar to add a text box, shape, or image to any page in the section, then drag it to where you want it to appear on each page. If you add a text box, type the text you want to appear. In the Format sidebar, click the Style tab.
