For pdfFiller’s FAQs

Below is a list of the most common customer questions. If you can’t find an answer to your question, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
For you to notarize such a mark, two people must watch, or witness, the signer make his or her mark on the document. One of the two witnesses must print the signer's name next to the mark, and both witnesses must sign their own names on the document as witnesses to the mark (Civil Code, section 14).
The notarization process is typically simple. You present a document to a notary public and sign it in their presence. After that, the notary officially notarizes the document using an official stamp, writes in the date, and adds their own signature.
What Is A Signature By Mark? A signature by mark is an alternative to signing a full signature. The signer instead makes a mark (such as an “X”), scribble or other symbols on the document. Under the laws of many states, a mark is considered a signature and is treated as such.
Above all, notarization is the assurance by a duly appointed and impartial Notary Public that a document is authentic, that its signature is genuine, and that its signer acted without duress or intimidation, and intended the terms of the document to be in full force and effect.
Signature. A mark or sign made by an individual on an instrument or document to signify knowledge, approval, acceptance, or obligation. The term signature is generally understood to mean the signing of a written document with one's own hand.
Usually, a signature is simply someone's name written in a stylized fashion. However, that is not really necessary. ... As long as it adequately records the intent of the parties involved in a contractual agreement, it's considered a valid signature. Usually this mark is made by a pen, but not necessarily.
Can I notarize his document with his signature stamped on the documents when he is not in the office? No. The document signer must personally appear before the notary at the time of the execution of the notarization.
To get something notarized, you must sign it in the presence of a notary public. ... So, DO NOT SIGN your document before meeting the notary public. The notary will either refuse your document or require that you sign it again in front of them.
As long as the signer is personally present before the notary and acknowledges the signature, then the notary can proceed with performing the notarial act. ... If the document has already been signed, the signer can sign his or her name again above or next to the first signature. You can then proceed with the notarization.
The answer depends on the notarial act being performed. If the principal signer signed a document and requires acknowledgment wording, the signer does not have to sign in front of you. The signer can, for example, sign at home in the presence of witnesses, then bring the document to you to have the signature notarized.
